Adoption fee: $300 Physical appearance: Cesar is a handsome, 6-year-old, black and tan, cropped and docked male Doberman that weighs in at 75 lbs. Personality: Looking for a buddy to play fetch with and train? Cesar is your guy. He has a solid work drive (which is higher than your average rescue Doberman) and needs a lot of structure, clear leadership, and rules to be a happy member of your family. He is not a Doberman you can baby and let get away with things, he needs a job to thrive. Not giving him a job will lead to him taking charge which led to growling with a former adoptive family from another rescue. He is not a laid-back couch potato and will not be adopted to a home that doesn't want to provide him the structure and job he needs. Why he's in rescue: Cesar came back to GDR after he was adopted out in 2020. Unfortunately, his dad had to take a job that requires he be away from home most of the week. No one could be home during the week with Cesar and he couldn’t travel ith him, so he made the difficult decision to return him to rescue. Manners and training: He has good house manners and is potty and crate trained. He does well with other dogs if given a slow and careful introduction and proper guidance from his family. You cannot just throw Cesar in with other dogs and expect them to get along as he will become defensive and stand his ground even if the other dog is not a threat. Again, he needs a solid leader he can trust. We do not know how he is with cats and would not recommend small children that cannot respect a dog’s boundaries. Older children would likely be fine. His former owner has done a ton of training with him, and he needs a home that will continue it. He walks beautifully on a leash, knows how to sit, lay down, stay, spin in a circle and more. You can teach this guy anything! Vetting: All our dogs are brought up to date on rabies, Bordetella, and combo, negative for intestinal parasites and heartworms, neutered and microchipped.##779846##
