Please contact the foster below for adoption inquiries and info**A message from Amber's foster: “Amber is a 30lb, 8 or 9 year old Beagle/Shepherd mix in need of a forever home to live out the rest of her years. She is full of life and love, in spite of her difficult circumstances. She was found by police after being hit by a car, and brought to a local vet to treat her while they searched for her family. When the owners were located, they admitted to abandoning her on the side of the road because they didn’t want her anymore & refused to pick her up from the vet that saved her life. For a few months, she lived in the vet’s office, who did their very best to care for her, but weren’t able to provide the environment Amber needed. She spent much of her day and night in a kennel in the office and began exhibiting reactivity and aggression in response to the confinement and noise—which in turn, made the possibility of adoption even more difficult. She has since moved in with a foster family, and begun to remember what life with a family is like. She is fully house trained, walks beautifully on a leash, sits politely, and is non destructive when left alone. She hasn’t exhibited any aggression with her foster family, but has shown some reactivity when handled unexpectedly and some resource guarding around meal times. She can live with another similar sized dog (hasn’t been tested with smaller dogs), but should not live with cats. Due to her history and age, she should not live in a home with young children (under 13). She just needs someone to give her a chance, take things slow with her, and show her that she is worthy of love and a good home! Could you be the family that allows her to love again?
