Animal Profile: Posey is an estimated 1 to 2 year old 65 lb spayed female Lab mix arriving from Texas on Saturday 7/15. She has been fostered with our rescue partner and a house full of dogs. She is super sweet, great with other dogs and people. She was pulled from the Freer shelter and has been so happy and appreciative, great in her crate -- an easy going social butterfly. Foster Update: Posey is the happiest, friendliest girl! She is always wagging her tail and smiling, always happy to be doing whatever she is doing! She is very generous with her affection, loves to be close and give kisses. Every person and dog she meets is immediately her best friend. Posey gets along great with my resident female dog and has integrated with several packs since she has been with me, gets along with dogs of all energy levels. She does have a very puppy, exuberant play style, wants to immediately wrestle with other dogs. This can cause problems with dogs who are not comfortable with this behavior so helping her learn to greet dogs in a more polite, patient manner is going to be important. Posey also does great with kids and recently had a cat test and did very well! She loves toys and will empty the toy box one by one, spending a good 10 minutes with each toy before going to check another one out. Posey LOVES to play and run so her ideal home would include a fenced yard but it is not absolutely required if she is with a family that will give her lots of activity! She is responsive to correction on leash when she starts to pull but can quickly forget if she gets very interested in a smell. We will continue to work on her leash manners! She is non-reactive to other dogs on leash, is interested and really wants to say hello but doesn't get too overexcited, no vocalizing. Posey is crate trained, does very well in her crate both during the night and when I leave for several hours. Adoption Info: Adoption fee is $550, which includes spay/neuter, current vaccinations per AVMA standards, microchip, negative heartworm test if over 6 months, and health certificate.
