Frank (fka Vedder from Chicago Animal Care and Control) is ready for his forever home! Frank is an extremely sweet, handsome, energetic, and cuddly boy. He is completely unfazed by our toddler and baby. Screaming, spontaneous indoor scooter riding, “doctor exams,” horrible loudness, and more screaming? No reaction, no problem at all. I wish I felt the same. He isn’t bothered walking next to a stroller. He absolutely loves people—to him, there are no strangers. He gets especially wiggly when he sees kids on walks, and everyone on our block loves to give him pets. Frank is great with our toddler. He snuggles with her, plays with her, and best of all, responds to her commands, which she absolutely loves. He is an enthusiastic player, so can knock kids over, but we feel she needs to toughen up a little, so are ok with this. He does nibble on you like you’re corn on the cob when he’s excited, and while he’s easily redirected with toys, he would do best in a home with older kids. Frank is a very smart boy and very food motivated. He knows sit and paw, and is working on come, down, drop it, and gentle. He enjoys playing with toys, and just really wants to please. Frank walks pretty well with a harness, but does pull hard when he sees squirrels and other dogs, though can be redirected most of the time with treats. Frank will pee on walks, but has only ever pooped in our backyard—he likes his privacy! The good news is he goes quickly, but because of this, he would probably do best in a home with a yard, or a secluded place where he can poo. He gets the zoomies before and after he poops. He goes into his crate easily with treats, and will only rarely whine 1-2 minutes if he hears us downstairs. If we’re nearby, he never whines, and he has never made a peep overnight. He shares the same nap time as our kids, and will put himself in his crate to snooze. We have not left him unsupervised, as he usually can’t resist chewing some of the kid’s toys, or trying to make, say, a tube of caulk his toy. Frank is such a goofy, sweet boy, and would make a wonderful addition to an active home!
