This isn't Rosie's first rodeo when it comes to rescue. She initially came in after being picked up as a stray in 2019. She was young, but from her condition it looked like she had probably spent most of her life on the streets. Good food and allergy meds helped her get physically healthy, but her little mind took much longer. She was timid, horrified of loud noises and scared of just about everything. She was in foster care about 15 months and over that time she learned how to relax and be a dog while we searched for her forever home, which was eventually found, vetted and determined to be a perfect fit. Sadly though, that wasn't the case as Rosie was found and picked up as a stray in January 2023 almost in the same awful condition as when she originally came into rescue. I was her foster the first time around and I am her foster this time around and can say whatever happened while she was away broke her little heart, but not her spirit and with time, patience and a little guidance she is coming back around to being the amazing little girl she once was. At 5 yrs old, she's the perfect age: No longer a puppy, but young enough she still loves to play! She weighs between 45/50 lbs. Rosie is housebrokencrate trained and walks well on a leash. She is also becoming a pretty good running partner as long as it's not in the heat of the day. She knows basic commands: sit, stay, down, go to crate and is always eager to learn new things as long as there are treats to be had. Rosie lives with other dogs and gets along with them, but as with all new situations a slow introduction is the best introduction. Rosie would not do well with cats. She loves bones & can entertain herself for hours chewing on one. What Rosie desires most though is affection. She loves to be petted on and curled up beside her person. Let her crawl up on the couch with you or hop up on the bed and she will settle down and stay as long as you'll let her. The thing I love most about this little girl is her willingness to try new things even when she's afraid, especially given humans have failed her more times than can be counted. Rosie does have allergies and skin issues that flair up from time to time but she's on supplements that seem to be working and if you add in a bath every week it's easily controllable. She will tolerate the bath, but absolutely loves to be dried off under the blow-dryer. I wish many things for Rosie, but mostly I want her to find a gentle hand, a soft voice and a home where she never has to be afraid. I wish for her the next home be her last home.
