Location is Pittsfield, MA:Krista Lee is looking for her new best friend. Whether you are looking for a hiking buddy, an agility teammate, or a canoeing companion, Krista could be the pal for you! Sweet, smart, and with a bit of sass, Krista is up for any activity just so long as she is included in your adventures.Six-month-old, Krista is still a puppy with a lot to learn but she’s off to a good start. She is crate-trained and knows “get-in-yer-crate” (a tossed treat makes it so much more fun!); she is beginning to understand “wait” when the crate opens (this will need more work!). Krista is also house trained and will “sit when asked. She is still learning not to jump up on people in her enthusiasm and will benefit from ongoing impulse control games. She does understand when asked to “get off” after jumping but it will be important for her to learn not to jump up in the first place. That’s still a work in progress. She also walks well on a leash in a quiet environment; she’ll likely need more training to help her focus in more distracting places but this should be easy as Krista loves to be close, often underfoot!Krista has done well with each of the other 4 dogs in her foster family but she really prefers people! It took Krista a couple of weeks before she could be enticed into playing with another dog, and it’s still not her favorite thing. She’d just as soon ignore the dogs in favor of time with her special someone. Krista is loyal and loving, happy to lie at your feet but always ready for fun, too. She takes most things in stride: when an unexpected noise happens or a person appears suddenly, she locates the “distraction” but does not bark. She just wants to look and learn. She’s curious, too, about the agility equipment in my yard and is eager to climb the low training obstacles. Very athletic, Krista would be a fantastic agility prospect but might also enjoy dock diving or any of the many dog sports available to enthusiasts. Expect her to grow into an active companion!This wonderful pup is up-to-date on all age-appropriate vaccines and will be adopted on a spay contract to be fulfilled as soon as possible after adoption. She sleeps in her crate at night and will bark a little if she hears me moving around after dark but then settles right down again (she seems to understand the verbal cue "settle"). Krista does not yet ask to go outside, quite possibly because we are outside so often so she doesn’t need to ask. She’d be a good candidate for bell training! Krista is more thoughtful than impulsive, curious but also a bit concerned when meeting someone new. Dog introductions should be slow. No kids under 12, however, as Krista does enjoy “tackling” people. Krista will benefit from on-going training whether for teaching good manners, trick training, agility, or whatever you and she decide to do together. This is one active and fun puppy!
