Looking for a loving Lab? Deja is gentle, house trained, good with other dogs and people of all ages, too interested in cats, walks great on leash, stays in a yard with chain-link fence, and is always by someone's feet. She doesn't get on the furniture even though she sees the other dogs on the sofa or bed. She is an amazing dog! Deja was in foster care because she arrived under VHS care very pregnant. Her foster home also had a large male foster dog in their care along with their own 2 large females. The male sometimes wandered into Deja's room and even slept in the whelping pool before the puppies were born. He even came in the room with the newborn puppies on occasion. Deja was good with this. She has been good with everyone. Deja's puppies have grown and found their furever homes. Deja has recovered from raising the puppies and is ready for her turn. In typical Lab fashion, Deja loves food. She is not food aggressive even with the other dogs in the household wandering in while she is eating. Her food does need to be in secure container though, or she will free feed herself to dangerous fullness. She does like to sit in the kitchen for scraps when she hears food being chopped. She likes strawberries, tomatoes, cucumbers, and about anything being cut off of people food. On Father's day, her foster family had a large gathering. Deja was great with everyone visiting with her puppies. She was gentle with the 3yr old toddler. Three teens holding her puppies did not faze Deja. Strangers have visited her puppies on other occasions as well with no issues. Of course, Deja wants her fair share of petting too. Deja is totally housebroken. She has not had any accidents in her foster home. That is saying a lot for a dog who has puppies. She goes to the door to signal she needs to go out. Deja is confined to the puppy room when her foster family is gone. They have started crating her when left alone in the house to evaluate her. Deja is good in the crate. Otherwise, she has free reign of the house with no issues. She loves being home. Deja has been one of the easiest momma dogs her foster family has cared for. Most momma's run to block the resident dogs from going near the door to the puppy room. It is unfortunate that the entrance is at the base of the stairs. When a dog wants to go upstairs, mommas usually come running to make sure the other dog doesn't go in the puppy room. Deja never did this. She was never grumpy at the other dogs. She loves to chew on Nyla bones, plays fetch with tennis balls, and has started wrestling with other dogs. She is gentle with everyone. Deja is an instant family member!
