Hi! My name is Deagan and I am looking for a forever home. I was picked up as a stray and taken to a really scary place called a shelter where, after my hold time was up, I was put on something really scary called "the list". Fortunately, BCAA heard about me right before something bad was going to happen to me and said they would help me ... yeah! I don't appear to have had an easy life as I do have some calluses on my legs where I was probably kept on concrete a lot, but that hasn't dampened my wanting to be loved and belong to a family. I am a smaller chocolate lab mix at 41lbs although my foster mom has been giving me lots of extra food and treats 'cause she says I needed to gain a couple of pounds when I first came into foster. At around 4years old I am past all of that puppy foolishness. I have gotten along with all of the other dogs I have met but have shown a little too much interest in the cats so it would probably be better for me to have a home without them. While I would much prefer to be out with you, I have done really well in my crate overnight without any accidents, barking or tearing up of my bedding. I love going for walks and I do pretty good on a leash as it means I get to be with you. I love my food and treats which I take gently. PLEASE NOTE: Our adoption fee helps to cover our expenses and includes all shots, *age appropriate*, distemper and rabies, fecal check, spay/neuter, heartworm test, grooming, and in many cases dental and also the fee we pay when we rescue from a shelter. April 19, 2024, 5:28 amAdoption processOur adoption process starts with the applicant filling out an adoption application for the pet they are interested in. When they have completed and submitted the application, the screening process is started, which consists of a vet check, phone interview and home visit. Once all the steps are completed, we determine, by our findings, if they are approved, and if so, then they are allowed to adopt from our organization. The final step is they must complete the adoption contract, along with the donation for the animal, which goes into our medical fund to defray their medical costs. All of our animals are spayed and neutered, up to date on all their shots, including rabies, they are parasite free and on heartworm preventative.Shelter locationWe have weekly adoption events at PetsMart every Saturday from 11:00 am till 2:00 pm at the Eastgate Square Shopping Center, Rt. 38, Moorestown, NJ and PetsMart, 62 Centerton Rd, Mount Laurel, NJ 08054.
