My foster writes:Maggie (AKA Malorie) is a sweet, loving, smart kitty. She's a little purring engine and will shower you with all her love if you pet her and give her attention. Cheek and forehead scratches are her favorite thing in the world after food and treats. She enjoys petting, scritches, brushing and tolerates being picked up. She's a low maintenance cat, she likes to do her own thing but loves when she's around her owner.She likes to explore the world but will quickly learn which areas to stay in and which ones to avoid. As long as she has her comfy spots (with things she can scratch) and toys, she's great at respecting boundaries. Basic cat-proofing techniques and a general level of cat knowledge are enough to teach her boundaries. She's a smart kitty who tries to teach you what she likes. Sometimes she'll gently point you towards where she wants to get petted and scratched. Other times she'll bump her head against you as a thank you for giving her food.Maggie is still learning that humans are her friends, so she can be fearful when meeting new people. Once she warms up to you, you're her favorite person. Her favorite toys are crinkle balls. She doesn't like playing with a cat wand and feather/bird as it can overstimulate her. She'll come to you for love and attention but she's good at keeping herself entertained and playing with her toys.What my friends at ACC say about me:I have lived with cats.I would appreciate slow introductions to new people and places to help me feel safe.Cheek and chin scratches make me so happy!While Malorie may require a slightly slower approach right as she settles in to make sure her positive progress continues, she shows behavior suitable for adopters with an average level of cat experience with cat parents who are preferably familiar with kitten/adult cat socialization or are open to detailed counseling by staff. Contact with young children as they are settling in should be limited or under close supervision to ensure continued positive progress.
