Meet Athena, she is an extremely friendly dog and gets along with just about anyone who looks her direction. Athena was picked up off the street in January of 2019 after being found while running in front of cars. She jumped straight into the backseat and made herself right at home after climbing into the passenger seat. She was taken to the local vet to see if she was chipped and after finding out she was not chipped and no one claimed her, she started her new life. Since Athena's original whereabouts are unknown, the vets have estimated her to be around 8 years old now. After being at her new home for a month or so, it was discovered that she unfortunately is epileptic. She was taken straight to the vet and after many long vet visits she was diagnosed with idiopathic epilepsy. While testing out multiple options with many trials and errors, Athena has been seizure free now for over 2 years with being on 2 medications she takes twice a day. With a more recent development, it has been found that Athena has pretty bad allergies that results in chronic yeast infections in her ears. Athena requires a lot of time and attention and will need someone that can give her that time paired with lots of patience. Athena loves cuddling and getting all of the attention the world has to offer. Athena gets along with cats, dogs, and even children. She does have a sassy attitude and will start acting like a human teenager when she is told no, even though she knows better. Athena is eager to spend the rest of her time with someone who has the time required for her condition. Other than her medical needs, Athena is the dream dog with her extremely mellow temperament and overall chilled demeanor. Athena is participating in The Love Pit's iRehome program, so ongoing care and custody are provided by their foster. All behavior and medical information is provided by their caretaker, and TLP encourages all adopters to verify the information with their caretaker prior to adoption.
