Alabama is a transfer from the city shelter, so while we have no history on her prior to her arrival to the HSEP, we know that she's destined to live a happy life with an attentive owner. She could benefit from a basic obedience course, and she has already shown a great capacity for just leash training alone (not to mention she already knows the command "sit")! Leash training will take a lot of consistency from a patient and dedicated owner, all Alabama needs are the right tools. She likes trying to catch birds and even some bugs, so it's recommended she go to a home that does not have any cats. Meet and Greets with other dogs are required to ensure compatibility - She may not have been well socialized with other dogs growing up since she comes on strong during introductions, but given some training and maybe the right dog, she could possibly live with other dogs. It is also a good idea to have her crate trained when left unattended since she might look for a way out of a backyard with enough motivation. Older children are recommended for her energy and enthusiasm.Happiness Happens at the Humane Society of El Paso!
