Meet Esmeralda aka Esme, an approximately 1-year-old female Domestic Shorthair.Esmeralda arrived at our shelter after being removed from a difficult living situation. Once she arrived at the shelter, she became so fearful that she would not let our staff handle her. Usually cats take time to decompress, however Esmeralda did not come around at the shelter, which is understandable, it is a very stressful environment. After Esmeralda healed from being spayed, she was placed into a foster home to see if she would open up. The shelter staff shortly received a call from her foster mom stating she thinks we gave her the wrong cat because she has been a completely different cat at her house. Here is what her foster mom had to say about her "She's been great, super affectionate and will stick to me like glue (all whilst purring nonstop)! She spooks pretty easily still, but I've noticed that she'll just hide until she feels okay again which doesn't take too long. She loves to talk with little chirps, and I've noticed she either responds vocally or comes when called to. She hasn't shown any signs of aggression towards me, she even lets me hold her without any issue! I haven't had any success yet with her and other cats. I feel like she may be fine once she gets used to them, but I also feel like she may be best suited as the only animal in a quiet house. I've also noticed that she has a knack for climbing up on anything and everything she can- she even balanced her way across the top of my headboard!
