Harlee is a 20-year-old Greenwing Macaw. He has a diverse vocabulary, saying “come here,” “peekaboo,” “treat,” “I love you,” and “kisses” among other words and phrases. He also enjoys being on top of his cage where he will dance and show his “pretty wings.” His ideal home will be able to interpret parrot body language and encourage gentle interactions. His favorite fresh foods are blackberries, carrots, pecans, and almonds (which all get drunked in his water prior to eating). He is AVB positive (Avian Bornavirus). Harlee is currently on medication and will require regular vet visits. He also plucks, so will need to be kept in a warm, draft-free environment with plenty of toys to discourage further plucking. While Harlee is exceptionally quiet for a macaw, he would not do well in an apartment.
