Meet Mara, a 1-year-old Australian Cattle Dog.Mara original arrived at the YHS spay and neuter clinic after being hit by a car. This sweet girl had extensive injuries and had to be placed in a loving foster home for an extended period of time to heal. Due to this fabulous foster, Mara is now healed and ready for her furever home. This girl is described as energetic and fun loving. She gets along great with other dogs as long as they are cool with her happy-go-lucky personality. Mara has lived with kids of all ages and done great. She is currently staying in an adoption center office due to over crowding and has had no problems. Mara does well on her leash and has no issues with car rides. The home we want for Mara will have a fenced in yard to keep her safe but wont be where she lives. We want to see Mara as a home companion. She is a valued member of the YHS family and we want that to continue in her home. Mara is only 29 pounds, she is going to fit right in your home and heart!If you are interested in adopting this pet please fill out an adoption questionnaire at www.yakimahumane.org. Adopters are welcome to visit the adoption center Monday-Saturday. -Mara is super energetic (bounces off the walls).-She is a cat chaser.-She gets along with other dogs but she can be annoying because she likes to jump up on them and "herd them." I'd say no cats but could be with other dogs if those dogs are chill and willing to put up with her being annoying.-She's very playful. Fits the typical description of her breed.-She'd be fine with kids but I do think a home with some breed experience and/or patience for an adolescent heeler will be important.If you have any questions or would like to adopt Mara, please reach out to the adoption group directly.
