Here's your go-to guide for keeping your chickens happy and healthy:Provide a secure and comfortable coop for your chickens. Ensure it's well-ventilated, with nesting boxes for egg-laying and perches for roosting. Make sure it's predator-proof to keep your feathered pals safe. Chickens love to roam! Give them access to a secure outdoor space for pecking, scratching, and dust-bathing. This helps keep them entertained and promotes natural behaviors. A balanced diet is crucial. Feed them a high-quality poultry feed that meets their nutritional needs. Additionally, supplement their diet with fresh fruits, vegetables, and occasional treats like mealworms. Keep fresh, clean water available at all times. Chickens can be surprisingly picky about water cleanliness, so regular refills are a must. Chickens are social creatures. Spend time with them, offer treats by hand, and observe their behaviors. Establishing a routine helps them feel secure. Chickens love to explore. View our Available Pets page and select a few that you would like to meet. Then download an Adoption Application and fill it out prior to visiting our shelter. Our adoption process is a walk-up and queue-based, first-come, first-served system. You will have a meet and greet with an Adoption Counselor to discuss your application, review information on the pets you would like to meet, and you will be introduced to the pet(s).If the Meet and Greet is a success, staff will complete your adoption paperwork to make it official! If your new family member is already spayed/neutered, they will go home with you right away!
